Bollocks

Reading about the Bollocks Court Case (24/11/1977) I found this quotation from Reverend James Kingsley, professor of English studies at Nottingham University, giving evidence as a witness about the meaning of the word “bollocks” appearing in the album title of The Sex Pistols‘ only official album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols:

“The word has been used as a nickname for clergymen. Clergymen are known to talk a good deal of rubbish and so the word later developed the meaning of nonsense.”

Well, that’s quite an honest statement for a former priest and I think it still remains valid today.
